Abstract

The article examines the application of sibi ipsi responsio and rhetorical dialogue in parliamentary debates. It represents the author’s view that the skillful use of rhetorical techniques does not in all cases contribute to convincing the audience of the speaker’s proposition, but provokes discussion and influences the audience. The text consists of basic theoretical concepts, followed by analyzes of parts of two parliamentary debates in which sibi ipse responsio and rhetorical dialogue are used. Following the development of the debates and their results, the author proves his thesis that adroit use of rhetorical techniques is not a sufficient condition to change the attitudes of the audience, but arouses discussions and suggests ideass.
