Abstract

The review presents the collection "The Power of Cinema: Anthology of Bulgarian Film Thought between the Two World Wars", the work of a team: Rosen Spasov - compiler, Alexander Donev - editor, published by the Institute for the Study of Arts - BAS, 2024. The collection contains 120 texts on cinema in specialized publications and the mass press, published between the two world wars (the 1920s - 1940s of the 20th century). The anthology includes little-known sources for the history of Bulgarian cinema. The contributions of the authors (compiler and editor) in their search, reconstruction and thematic typology are presented.

Ventsislav Dimov, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”

Prof. Ventsislav Dimov, DSc is a lecturer at Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohridski”.

He is head of the Department of ‘Radio and Television’ and head of the research group “Ethnomusicology’ at the Institute of Art Studies, BAS. Author of over 250 scientific studies and articles, author of the monographs “The Ethnopopboom” [in Bulgarian] (2001); “Dobrudzha: memory and song” [in Bulgarian] (2012); “Music for the people on the media front…” [in Bulgarian] (2019); “Living Voices: Presentation of the Archived Sound Heritage of Raina Katsarova (1930s/1940s transcription discs” [in Bulgarian] and others.
