The village pub has gone through several transformations: from the traditional male space of the past, through its disappearance during early socialism and its revival in a new changed form. Today, it follows the fate of the Bulgarian village and that of the men who remained in it. Although it continues to some extent to occupy the role of a social center in the village space, with fewer and more aging visitors, it adapts to the new conditions, often occupying all the commercial functions in the village it is located in.
