History of the foundation and development of the Dubnitsa village school

Abstract

The present paper focuses on the establishment and development of the first school in the village of Dabnitsa, municipality of Garmen, and its role in the education and cultural integration of the local community. Dabnitsa offers an example of ethnic diversity, with different ethnic groups living together within the village. The study examines the historical prerequisites and public efforts leading to the establishment of the school at the beginning of the 20th century as an important element of the cultural and social development of the village. The school’s importance is considered through its role of center providing education, cultural integration and quality teaching for children from different ethnic groups as well as establishing tolerance and understanding among the local community. Comprising a review of historical documents, archives and interviews with local residents that offer valuable information on the school’s foundation and development, the study emphasizes the importance of education for the cultural integration and social development of the village of Dabnitsa.
