Abstract

In this text we are trying to restore the life and achievements of an Orthodox priest, and particularly his participation in Bulgarian National Church Movement. Having chosen to join the leaders of the religious struggle, Ilarion of Lovech soon started playing a major role in organizing the newly established ecclesiastical institutions and their first steps with regard to solving the issue of the future Bulgarian exarch. Though his spiritual leadership withered on the vine, the bishop remained in history as a unifier of Bulgarian congregation, whose destiny reflected all the aspirations and hardships of the time.
