Peer-review process

Each submitted manuscript is reviewed through double-blind peer review. Reviewers do not receive information about the author of the manuscript, and authors do not receive any information about the reviewers.

The peer review process, conducted by two independent reviewers, takes place over a period of eight to sixteen weeks and follows this procedure:

Ø A member of the editorial board accepts the manuscript through the Open Journal Systems. The manuscript is initially evaluated for compliance with the technical requirements and the subject scope of the serial. Only submissions that meet the criteria for originality and relevance requirements are selected.

Ø After evaluating the compliance with the serial’s requirements, the manuscript is sent to two reviewers.

Ø The reviewers prepare their reviews within four weeks. They make recommendations and offer ideas for further developing or deepening the research.

Ø Based on the reviews, a member of the Editorial board decides whether to return the manuscript to the author(s) for revision or refer it to the Editorial board for discussion.

Ø The author(s) then has four weeks to make the necessary additions and revisions. After this period, the manuscript goes through the review process again.

Ø Based on the reviews, the Editorial board takes decision whether to publish the manuscript in the serial Research Announcements “Heritage BG”.

Ø The manuscript is prepared for pre-printing and publication.

Ø The manuscript is published online and in print in the serial Research Announcements “Heritage BG”.

If one of the reviews is negative and one is positive, a third reviewer will review the manuscript. If the third review is positive, the manuscript is sent back to the author(s) for editing, if necessary, before being prepared for publication. If the third review is negative, however, the manuscript is rejected.

The manuscript is rejected if there are two negative reviews. All reviews must contain arguments for the evaluation.

Authors are informed by email about each stage of the review process.
