Abstract

The report briefly presents the path followed by Bulgarian scientists from the 1990s to today in the direction of using artificial intelligence (AI) in historical research. Emphasis is placed on the creation, the general functional scheme, the data structure, and the functionalities of the Bulgarian expert system for the identification and classification of ancient coins, PSAMS, as a new, modern way of analyzing numismatic material.
