Techical requirements

In accordance with the double-blind peer-review policy of the Research Announcements “Heritage BG”, authors are required to submit their manuscripts in two versions:

Ø The FIRST VERSION must contain complete information about the author (names, ORCID, institutional affiliation and email address) and must be formatted according to the requirements for the final version of the manuscript to be submitted for publication in the serial Research Announcements “Heritage BG”.

Ø The SECOND VERSION must be submitted in a separate, completely anonymous file containing the main text, without the author(s) name(s), unique identifiers, institutional affiliations, etc., so that the author’s identity is not known to the reviewers. The file must be prepared in accordance with the format of the anonymous version of the manuscript submitted for publication in the serial Research Announcements “Heritage BG”.

FINAL VERSION FORMAT

The title only should appear at the beginning of the article. The title and the author(s)’ name(s), along with their institutional affiliation in both Bulgarian and English, should be listed on a separate title page (file).

The name(s) must be accompanied by a footnote providing a brief overview of the author(s)’ academic profile (in English if the article is in Bulgarian). For example:

Dr Ivan Vanev is an Associate Professor; Deputy director of the Institute of Art Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; a member of the General Assembly of the same Academy; restorer and art historian.

FORMAT OF THE ANONYMOUS VERSION

To ensure the manuscript is ready for the peer-review process, the following are required:

1. The author(s) must remove their name, name identifiers, institutional affiliations and email addresses from the title.

2. When referencing their publications, authors must use an impersonal construction (e.g. ‘… as it has been shown before’, followed by [Anonymous 2009]).

3. Illustrations must not contain any information identifying the author(s)’ institutional affiliation.

4. In the bibliography cited publications by the author are listed as follows: ‘[Anonymous 2007], details omitted for the purpose of review’.

5. The names of funding organizations have been removed.

6. Acknowledgements to colleagues and institutions have been removed.

7. File names do not contain any information that could reveal the author’s identity. All identifiers in the computer document that could be used to identify the author(s) have been removed.

The text of the article must be submitted electronically (file) in docx or doc format (MS Word), using Times or Times New Roman font at 12 pt. The text should not exceed fifteen standard printed pages

Abstract

Each manuscript must include an abstract summarizing the main points and contributions of the authors based on the content of the study. It should be placed below the title. It must contain no more than 150 words (900 characters including spaces) in both English and Bulgarian. Authors who do not speak Bulgarian may use an automatic translation tool.

Keywords

Each manuscript must include keywords in Bulgarian and English. There must be no more than seven and should not repeat words/terms from the title.

Illustrations

Each manuscript may not contain up to 10 illustrations in JPG or TIFF format with a minimal resolution of 300–600 dpi. Illustrations are numbered consecutively. All illustrations should be submitted as separated files.

Dates

Arabic numbers must be used when specifying dates, e.g. 17th, 18th century, or written out in words as ‘… in the seventeenth century…’, ‘… during the eighteenth century…’ in English text. In Bulgarian texts, Roman numbers must be used (e.g. XVIII, XIX).

Footnotes

Footnotes may be used in the main text. The superscript should be an Arabic numeral and should precede, not follow, the punctuation mark. For example: ‘… testimony1.’ ; ‘… hermeneiai13, used…’

Manuscripts submitted after the deadline and/or not complying with the above guidelines will be rejected.

All authors must ensure that their manuscripts are formatted in accordance with the style guidelines. The authors are entirely responsible for the linguistic and stylistic quality of articles. We strongly recommend that all texts not written in the native language of the author(s) be reviewed and edited by a native speaker, or at least by a qualified philologist.
