Abstract

The current article offers a theoretical analysis which seeks to provide answers to some topical and widely discussed issues in the contemporary theory and practice in the sphere of developmental dyslexia. It discusses the following issues: the degree of correlation between specific language disorders and dyslexia in terms of etiology, signs and symptoms; the early disorders of oral language as predictors of dyslexia emergence; the specifics and age dynamics of these disorders. The conclusion is made that a strong, yet not absolute, interrelation exists between oral and written language disorders and its impact over the diagnostics and therapy in speech therapy and related sciences.
