The article defines the concept of “constructive-technical competence” and outlines the indicators of the diagnostic procedure for assessing its parameters among 6-7-year-old children. The main characteristics of constructive play, which justify its acceptance as the basic environment for the formation and development of constructive-technical competence in
preschool age, are highlighted. The structure of an experimental model for the development of constructive-technical competence in the kindergarten is presented.
