The article presents the avant-garde as a martial art and looks at the ideas and messages in the manifestations of the Bulgarian avant-garde from the group of „Yambol modernists“ and the group around Novis journal. They show the connections between their ideas and the ideas of the European avant-garde and their importance for the synchronization of the Bulgarian artistic process with the European one in the period between the two world wars.
