About the Journal
Society, Memory, Education (History and Social Attitudes)
ISSN: 3033-0025 (print)
"Society, Memory, Education (History and Social Attitudes)" is a multivolume series published by the St. Kliment Ohridski University Press.
The articles are published in Bulgarian, English, and Russian.
This publication combines the features of both a thematic anthology and an academic journal, primarily featuring papers from the National Historical-Didactic Seminar held annually in Kiten.
The seminar has a long-standing history, beginning in 1980, initiated by Prof. Dr. Yordan Shopov. Initially held in Varna, it has been hosted in the town of Kiten since 2001. Over the years, the leading organizer has consistently been the Department of Archival Studies and Methodology of History Education (formerly Archival Studies and Auxiliary Historical Disciplines) at the Faculty of History, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
The themes and priorities of this periodical are related to historical memory and the methodology of history education. Despite its historical-didactic focus, the seminar has a clearly defined interdisciplinary nature. It brings together experts in history, archival studies, civic education, pedagogy, information and communication technologies, psychology, geography, and Bulgarian language and literature. Participants include university lecturers, teachers, representatives of archival institutions, regional museums, and libraries, as well as PhD students and undergraduates.
The first five volumes of "Society, Memory, Education (History and Social Attitudes)", published between 2015 and 2019, were issued with individual ISBNs. Volume 6 (2022) is assigned an e-ISBN. From Volume 7 onward (2023), the series is published under a permanent ISSN as a periodical. The editorial board was elected in 2025. All volumes are included in the National Reference List of Scientific Publications (https://nrs.nacid.bg/).
