Abstract

The essay analyses the dystopian dimension of the framing narrative of the Arabian Nights through the lens of Margaret Atwood’s novel The Handmaid’s Tale, reexamining the heroines’ agency regarding the spatial, temporal and subversive perspectives. It explores the pattern of the night and raises the question of the heroines’ social position and subjectivity through narrative choices and enunciative strategy deployed.

  • Aurélie Le Formal, Université de Paris Nanterre

    Aurélie Le Formal étudie la littérature comparée dans une perspective créative à l’Université de Paris Nanterre. Elle a publié deux romans, une nouvelle, ainsi qu’une réécriture féministe des contes de Charles Perrault, Iel était une fois, à paraître. Elle s’intéresse aux rapports de domination et à la question de l’amémoire, elle interroge les frontières du littéraire, de l’autofiction à l’autothéorie en passant par la critique créative.
