Abstract

The article reports a study on the level of rhythm proficiency and pause observance in primary school-aged hearing impaired students. The sense of rhythm is predetermined genetically to some extent in each of us. Therefore, we can assume that also in hearing impaired pupils under the influence of applied rhythmic exercises it develops according to their individual abilities. The ability to identify a pause and to reproduce an elementary rhythm has been examined with the Test for the Evaluation of Time Organization by Imitation of Rhythmic Structures according to the method of Myra Stamback, adapted to the peculiarities of hearing-impaired children (Georgieva-Drvenicharska, 2008). The studied students were of primary school age, with different hearing
prostheses - conventional hearing aids and cochlear implants. By stimulating the development of this skill, the aim is correction and improvement of their speech-language function at a higher level.
