Editorial Policy

Seminar_BG is an online peer-reviewed scientific journal in the field of cultural studies. It is indexed in CEEOL and is included in the National Reference List of Contemporary Bulgarian Peer-Reviewed Scientific Publications of the Ministry of Education and Science. It differs from other social science journals both thematically, shifting the research gaze from traditional subjects and issues to new or understudied processes, aspects, practices and groups in society, and stylistically, allowing shorter or longer concentrated texts with numerous hyperlink references and multimedia illustrations that the online reader can immediately follow. The journal thus aims to offer research in motion, because the very objects which we analyse are also in motion.

Open access is an essential part of the ideology of Seminar_BG, based on the presumption that science shall be freely available and publicly accessible.

The journal publishes articles in a wide range of scientific fields and accepts submissions for thematic issues (not separate articles).

The submitted manuscripts are published in Bulgarian language after a double blind peer review by two specialists in the relevant scientific field. The final decision on publication is made by the members of the editorial board and the issue editor(s), taking into account the reviewers' assessments. The reviewer form could be found here.

The issues may also include materials on books, films, virtual culture, interviews, photo-documentations, etc.

Articles should be relevant to the subject area of the journal, not have been published elsewhere, present and interpret the data analysed fairly and objectively, cite the sources of information correctly and accurately, reflect transparently any financial support for the research, and comply with publication ethics. The ethical standards of publication also include originality of the material presented, presice statement of the contribution of all authors in the developed publication, responsible acknowledgement of the sources used and their agreement to the public disclosure of the information they have provided while respecting their opinions, points of view and positions, and consideration and avoidance of the risk of jeopardizing their life, social and professional status as a result of the publication. The editors, reviewers and members of the editorial board process and store the texts proposed for publication under an obligation of confidentiality and a commitment not to use or disclose to third parties information from the material before publication and without proper citation.

The frequency of publication is three issues per year. Additionally, a special issue with selected papers in English is published every two years.

Due to the electronic publication format, the length of accepted papers may vary from shorter to longer texts. The format also allows insertion of illustrations, figures, videos and other visual material. In all cases possible, references should be hyperlinked to the website of the respective publishing house.
