Abstract
The research article, titled “Translated songs – emergence, functions and spread”, examines one of the phenomena that began to take shape as an aftermath of the evolution of the music industry. The article explores the development of technologies related to the distribution of music, and how they contributed to the performing artist, making him a central figure in the entertainment business. The article also examines the history of cover songs, with them being the predecessor to the so-called “translated songs”. The translated songs themselves are subjected to separate analysis, aiming to explain the reasons for their emergence and existence, both in Bulgaria and the rest of the world. It is also pointed out, at the end of the article, how this topic can be linked to music education at school, in the first high school stage of education.
