Abstract

The article outlines a desk research aimed at identifying the main deficits in extracurricular forms of music education in Bulgaria. The hypothesis is that the practices of extracurricular education depend directly on the understanding of its role in the general learning process and school education in particular. Therefore, the methodological line is the comparison between the current Bulgarian practice and the practices in developed democratic societies, taken as a standard due to older traditions and their liberal development. The study found that, due to the tradition of extracurricular forms of music education in Bulgaria being strongly dependent on the school form of education, this education is deprived of content, approaches and possible practices that create a multiplier effect in the development of the young person.
