Results from recently published scientific papers related to the study of neurobiology basis of music and language that reveal how music activities influence language development are presented in the article. Experimental data prove that: a) musical training leads to the improvement of brain structures, involved in speech processing; b) music activities increase intelligence and enhance non-musical cognitive functions; c) musical training improves word reading skills and skills for identifying small pitch differences; d) there is a close relationship between brain functions which process music and language not only in the mature but also in the developing brain. The scientific results are interpreted in the light of foreign language pedagogy; on the basis of the survey data some conclusions on the implementing musical elements in language teaching and learning are presented in the paper
