PROF. DSc ANDREANA EFTIMOVA on the language of politicians in the Parliament and on the sidelines

The populist style of speaking dominates. It is a way to mobilize the audience, target voters and count them. This is a strategy aimed at expanding the audience. According to Prof. Eftimova, two sub-styles are formed in the populist style - of good manners and of bad manners. The latter sub-style is characteristic of political subjects who use hate speech and mix it with moralistic pathos.

An emblematic interjection in the political discourse for 2025 is "Tu - tuuu", which is pronounced in a public speech resembling a damaskin with the presentation of a religious story in a vernacular language, but there are more colorful and memorable phrases in the top lists for the past year.
