Абстракт

Формула 1 като световно признат спорт с милиони зрители привлича авторитарни държави, които използват домакинството на състезания за подобряване на имиджа си чрез спортуошинг. Чрез анализ на казуси статията изследва как Бахрейн, Саудитска Арабия, Катар и Азербайджан използват Ф1 за отвличане на вниманието от нарушения на правата на човека и други проблеми. Изследването разглежда липсата на реакция от страна на Ф1 и ФИА като съществен проблем, подкопаващ легитимността на спорта. В заключение се предлага комуникационна стратегия за преодоляване на критиките към организациите за тяхната пасивност.
