Russian-Soviet Religious Myth Production

Despite the collapse of Communism and the temporary introduction of democracy,
Church leaders in Russia continue to adhere to the old Communist-
era policies of blind obedience to the state. They provide moral justification
for the injustices committed by state leaders and their policies and
even support aspects of state policy such as war, segregation, militarism, and
nationalism. This modern ‘symphony’ between State and Church alienates
many Christians from their faith and transforms the Church from being the
‘bride of God’ into a mere ‘servant of humans.
