Abstract

Women in contemporary Judaism are experiencing changes previously unimaginable. Over the centuries, Jewish women have gone through periods of both advancement and oppression. At times, their worth has been recognized and elevated, while at other times, their value has been under-mined and diminished. The task of this article is to provide an overview of the changes in the status of women in contemporary Judaism over the last century, particularly in comparison to traditional roles, with a focus on the influence of the feminist movement within Judaism.
