Abstract

Disability is a condition of restriction on the opportunities for a person to interact with his/her environment, which gives rise to social, intellectual, physical or moral difficulties for him/her. According to recent surveys, 15 of each 100 persons in the world suffer from a handicap. That is why, in practice, it is extremely important to have provisions at a supra-national level that will foster the integration of disabled people and make them part of society. In Bulgaria there have been adopted and established numerous laws which support and facilitate that. As a result thereof, last year – 2019 – the number of unemployed handicapped people decreased by 4,8% compared to the year 2018. The small steps taken along the long road to the integration raise the handicapped people from ‘lower class’ to equal ones.
