On "the end of history" and "historical chances" in the national academic context

Abstract

The proposed text deals with the recent reform of Bulgarian legal education, which replaced the study of national history of state and law with courses in general history of state and law. The paper presents the view on the problems of the current training in the history of Bulgarian state and law. On this basis, proposals and alternatives are formulated for the expansion of the chronological sphere studied in national legal history, conceptualization of the new courses on general history of state and law, and the use of a peculiar „historical chance“ for renewal of Bulgarian historical-legal scholarship for the benefit of legal education in the country.
