The principle of contractual stability in relations between professional football players and clubs in Europe continues to give way to EU law

Abstract

Another landmark CJEU ruling C-650/22 („Lassana Diarra“) confirmed that the mobility of professional football players should not be restricted by football federations and clubs, and that they can benefit from freedom of movement and employment like any other worker. The study aims to monitor the effects of this ruling on professional football and to seek an answer to the question of what regulatory changes can be expected in the near future.
