PRACTICAL MOBILIZATION OF AURA IN THE ARTS, FROM THE MOMENT OF ITS PROCLAIMED DECLINE TO THE MODERN GRAMOPHONE RECORD

Abstract

This presentation will focus on the contemporary metamorphoses of the definition that W. Benjamin briefly but very successfully gives to the aura. The aim is to show that since technical mediation inevitably removes the aura around a work of art, it also establishes a slightly different and more technological interpretation of it. The presentation will take a slightly different perspective on “mechanical reproduction”, from which to try to answer another question – does media representation continue to be a cause of the decline of the aura in art or should it now be accepted as an irrevocable factor in its existence?
