Die Translationswissenschaft auf dem Weg von der Peripherie zur Extraversion

Translation wird weitgehend auch von Nicht-Profis praktiziert und soll daher als allgegenwärtige Praxis betrachtet werden. Diese Tatsache wird allmählich von der Translationswissenschaft (TW) systematisch berücksichtigt und stellt die Disziplin vor neue Herausforderungen. Mittels der Polysystemtheorie wird hier gezeigt, dass die TW zurzeit eine periphere Position im System der wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen einnimmt, teilweise auch deswegen, weil sie auf andere Disziplinen angewiesen ist (Interdisziplinarität). Doch wenn man die Translation als eine allgegenwärtige soziale Praxis betrachtet, so ergibt sich ein Potenzial für die TW, nämlich Wege zu berücksichtigen, wie sie andere Disziplinen beeinflussen kann, anstatt lediglich von ihnen geprägt zu sein. In diesem Beitrag wird davon ausgegangen, dass die Translationsdidaktik auch darauf abzielen kann, a) die für die Translation erforderliche komparative Kompetenz auch anderen Berufen zu vermitteln, und b) diese Kompetenz allgemein als eine besondere Form der Literalität anzusehen, um zukünftig eine zentralere Position für die gesamte TW zu sichern.
