SAINT JUSTIN CHELIISKI “WITH ALL THE SAINTS” (THEOLOGICAL PROGRAM IN THE INTRODUCTION AND CONCLUSION OF THE “LIVES OF THE SAINTS”)

Abstract

The author examines the agiographic emphasis placed by Father Justin Popovich on his work, especially while writing the Lives of the Saints as they pertain to the general paradigm of Orthodox theology and the life of the faithful. While too short to present in full in this format various points are highlighted such as the links between Fr. Justin and Fr. Georges Florovsky, the common approach to the Lives of the Saints with the way they manifest a concrete awareness in church life, and their role in the formation of a historical consciousness.
