Abstract

Zornitsa Gyurova, A New Hypothesis about Translation of the Right Hand of St John of Rila to Island of Tinos. This paper suggests that the relic was separated during the 12th or 13th century, either during the Byzantine period or the Second Bulgarian Empire, rather than during the Ottoman period (18th century). Marco Sanudo, the founder of the Duchy of Naxos and nephew of Doge Enrico Dandolo, played a significant role in the translation of the relic.
