Résumé

The article examines the work and biographies of Romos Filiras and Napoleon Lapathiotis, representatives of the generation of poets from the first decades of the 20th century, considered to be the forerunners of Greek 1920s poetic cosmopolitanism. It also presents an analysis of the ‘hypostases’ of the mask motive in their work. Opinions of literary critics from different university schools regarding the considered authors are compared.

  • Fotiny Christakoudy-Konstantinidou, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"

    Fotiny Christakoudy-Konstantinidou is an Associate Professor of Greek Language and Greek Literature at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. In 2007 she received a Ph.D. degree at the Institute for Balkan Studies. Currently, she has been working on topics concerning the 1920s poetic generation (Nikos Kavvadias, Kostas Ouranis, Kostas Karyotakis, etc). She has published articles on the work of Greek symbolist poets from the 1890s (K. Hadzopoulos, L. Porfyras, etc.), Odysseas Elytis, the problem of Greek diglossia, presenting also in Greek the poetry of Bulgarian authors such as Nikola Vaptzarov and Valery Petrov. She is the author of two books: Symbolism and Modern Greek Poetry from the End of the XIX and the Beginning of the XX Century. (Sofia, Ni plius, 2020) and Issues of Greek Literary Development 1880-1930 (Studies on Modern Greek Poetry) (Sofia, Ni plius, 2020).
