Abstract

The article examines Noah’s Ark as a work of autofiction that integrates fictional and real elements in a distinctive manner. Yordan Radichkov’s narrative establishes its own “internal” boundaries, within which the autobiographical and the fictional interact. The study traces the outcomes of this mode of autofictional narration. While the novel clearly exhibits the defining features of autofiction, its play with the biographical aligns it more closely with postmodern poetics, allowing it to be defined as a form of postmodern autofiction from the late 1980s.

  • Ilvie Konedareva, New Bulgarian University

    Ilvie KONEDAREVA holds a PhD in Contemporary Bulgarian Literature and is currently Chief Assistant Professor of Theory and History of Literature at New Bulgarian University. Her research focuses on contemporary Bulgarian literature, the theory of the novel, autofiction in prose, and narrative theory. She defended her doctoral dissertation, The Bulgarian Novel After 1989: Changes in Poetics in 2014, and continues to publish on the culture and literature of the Transition period. Her academic interests also include the methodology of teaching Bulgarian language and literature.
