Résumé

My goal is to present the reception of several writings by Emil Staiger in the Bulgarian academic environment. Also – to pose a more general question – do approaches to these writings imply credibility? The publications I discuss are by Rossitza Dimtshewa, Nikola Georgiew, Atanas Natew.

  • Angel Valentinov Angelov, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

    Angel Valentinov Angelov is a Professor of Literary Theory and History at the Institute of Literature, BAS. He is a doctor of Philology and a doctor of History of Art. His research interests are in the history of European culture, literature and art from the Late Middle Ages (ca. 1300) to the end of the 20th century. Among his publications are: Communicating with the text. Co-editor, with Al. Kyosev; Telling the image. Co-editor with Irina Genova; Historicity of the visual image; Anti/Modernity: Images of the Exotic and the Earthly Paradise in Nineteenth-Century Europe; Philology, Literature and Symbolic Geography of Europe: Erich Auerbach, Leo Spitzer, Eduard Said, Stefan Zweig, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, 2022.
