The review summarizes the content of Darina Mladenova’s work and points out its main contributions. The many questions that the author asks herself and the answers consistently and competently provided to them are evaluated. The analysis is based on 124 maps she has created for the names of tomato and eggplant in Bulgarian dialects and neighboring Balkan languages. The presented work marks a new beginning in research on areal linguistics in our country.
