Abstract

Precedent phenomena reflect national stereotypes in the perception and evaluation of people, events, phenomena and have significant manipulative potential. The perception of precedent phenomena in the text is due to the presence of appropriate background knowledge of the addressee, as well as the peculiarities of the precedent sign and the nature of its use in the text. Taking this into consideration, precedent phenomena can create difficulties in rendering a text written in one language into another language. Incorrectly chosen strategies and inaccurate translation regarding the methods of their rendering can cause a violation of the symmetry of the communicative effects of the original text and the translated text.
